The Self-Care Hub

We aim to become the ‘go-to’ place for evidence about self-care support for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

By ‘self-care’ we mean:

  • Doing everyday tasks related to looking after myself, and
  • Making decisions about and influencing how these tasks are done.

Our research into self-care was developed as a result of prioritisation by children and young people, parents, and professionals. They also developed the definition of self-care that we now use.

With the right support children with long-term health concerns can find their own ways to look after themselves. We study what these ‘right supports’ are, and how to roll them out in a wider context of personalised care.
